Webb16 jan. 2014 · I have a nifty 50mm which I use with a Canon 1000D. As John said earlier, you do need to stop the lens down to f/4. I've taken some images of Orion just using the Camera + nifty 50mm on a tripod but using a maximum exposure time of 4 to 5 seconds. Any longer then 5 seconds and I'm getting star trails.
